Door County in Winter

Is Door County Even Open in the Winter?

Visitors to Door County often ask people who live here year round, “So what do you do up here in the winter anyway?” As it turns out, quite a lot actually! One of the best parts of winter is ice skating! The Teresa K. Hilander Community Ice Rink is located right in the middle of the of the Sister Bay Sports Complex, not too far from downtown Sister Bay. It’s an outdoor rink that offers skates to rent and has a warming house with snacks and hot drinks. There is also an outdoor fire pit, perfect for thawing out after a great skate! The rink is open mid-December through February, weather permitting. For broomball fans, games are played on Wednesday nights! Check out the latest info at: www.facebook.com/sisterbayicerink/. The Sturgeon Bay Ice Rink is located across from Sturgeon Bay High School. Skates are free and it’s open weekday evenings and during the day on the weekends. It is also an outdoor rink, open through the winter months, weather permitting.
